PDC World Darts Championship Day Two predictions

There are a number of one-sided first round matches on the second day of the PDC World Darts Championship and Wesley Plaisier looks a candidate for a whitewash win when he takes on fellow debutant Ryusei Azemoto on Monday afternoon.

Plaisier has won a Players Championship event this season and reached the final of two more despite not having a tour card. He is also a two-time WDF World Masters winner so has much more big stage experience than his opponent.

Azemoto has been averaging in the mid-80s on the PDC Asian Tour but this is a significant step up on that and the occasion could get the better of him.

Plaisier is fancied to secure his first win on this stage in dominant fashion.

Connor Scutt has taken a big step forward, reaching his first  PDC major quarter-final before losing 10-9 to Dirk van Duijvenbode in the last eight of the Players Championship Finals last month.

The Sniper is making his second Alexandria Palace appearance after a solid debut last year, whitewashing Krzysztof Kciuk in the first round before losing to Gerwyn Price in the second.

He also had the most 180s and the highest checkout in that win over Kciuk and he could have a similarly resounding success in Monday's first-round game against Ben Robb.

The New Zealander has lost in the first round in all four of his PDC World Darts Championship appearances, winning a total of just two sets in those four matches.

Robb may struggle to live with the scoring power of Scutt, whose tally of 0.29 180s per leg ranks in the top 20 in the PDC over the last 12 months.

Side with the 28-year-old to have the most maximums, highest checkout and secure a comfortable first round win.
