Grand Slam of Darts day six predictions

Grand Slam of Darts favourite Luke Littler takes to the oche on Thursday night, meeting Mike De Decker in a best-of-19-legs last-16 encounter at the Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton.

Since Luke Humphries was eliminated after losing his opening two group matches, Littler has been Grand Slam market leader, and Nuke shortened further for outright glory when Michael van Gerwen was dumped out of the competition on Tuesday night.

Littler's averages in the group stage were 112.16, 106.98 and 102.05, he is settled with his equipment, fresh for the fight, and deserves to head the betting. The Warrington warrior can be fancied to see off De Decker, but bookmakers are giving nothing away at the prices.

Better Thursday punting options can be found in the other three matches. Gian van Veen seems a strong favourite against Ryan Joyce, Dimitri van den Bergh looks a value outsider against Jermaine Wattimena, while Gary Anderson's clash with Stephen Bunting has the potential to serve up a feast of maximums.

Van Veen is a 22-year-old Dutchman with immense potential. The Giant's scoring power means he can quickly blow opponents away and coming through a difficult Group H with a 100 per cent record was a great achievement. Van Veen averaged 110.39 against Josh Rock, 114.71 in a 5-1 thrashing of Stephen Bunting, then 103.99 in beating Wessel Nijman. Joyce has been nowhere near as impressive.

Van den Bergh averaged 104.58 in a decisive 5-1 success over Keane Barry on Tuesday night and the UK Open champion should be favourite to beat Wattimena. Van den Bergh, World Matchplay champion in 2020, is in a different league to his journeyman opponent. The layers are showing too much respect to Wattimena's run to the final of the European Championship last month.

Anderson v Bunting should be a long match, given Bunting has averaged more than a ton in all three of his group games. Bullet is buzzing after the safe arrival of a second son a week ago. Expect 12 or more 180s in an entertaining match.
