BoyleSports World Grand Prix day two predictions

Joe Cullen has plummeted down the performance ladder on the Pro Tour this term and the player known as Rockstar is likely to be silenced by Chris Dobey on the World Grand Prix stage on Tuesday evening.

Cullen has dropped to 85th-best on the averages and the Bradford arrowsmith’s numbers in the recent triple-header of Player Championship events make worrying reading.

Rockstar has put up figures of 84.88, 92.48, 88.84, 82.15 and 87.71 in his last five matches in PC events. The peak of those numbers would leave Cullen miles off the level of Dobey and the worst will make it difficult for the 35-year-old to even win a leg, never mind a set.

Not only is Cullen’s form a major concern, but opponent Dobey has been the standout performer on the Pro Tour this season, winning three Players Championship events and sitting second behind only Gary Anderson in terms of averages.

The double-in format gives a different dynamic to this event but it’s unlikely to stop Hollywood proving the star of the show.

Dimitri van den Bergh has shown very little on the Pro Tour and European Tour this season, and while the Dreammaker saves his best for major events, it’s difficult to keep faith with the Belgian.

Luke Woodhouse is putting up stronger numbers than Van den Bergh on tour this term and there’s enough in the price to believe that may be repeated in Leicester this evening.
