West Indies vs England second ODI prediction
A new-look England side slipped to an eight-wicket defeat in the first one-day international against the West Indies but there were always going to be teething issues given the experimental nature of their white-ball squad.
The tourists named four debutants in the team for the first ODI of the three-match series with Jordan Cox, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton and John Turner featuring in the 50-over format for the first time.
But the lack of experience showed for England at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, where they were bowled out for 209, losing their final six wickets for just 44 runs.
Evin Lewis proved the star of the show in the West Indies' reply, striking 94, but the home side's bowlers were also integral to their success.
Spinner Gudakesh Motie recorded figures of 4-41 but it was also a decent wicket for the seamers as Matthew Forde, Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph each claimed two scalps.
The second match of the series will take place at the Antigua and Barbuda venue once again and the fast bowlers could again profit.
This time, however, punters may want to look at the England attack and take a chance on Jofra Archer picking up at least a couple of wickets.
Archer went wicketless in the first ODI but bowled well with two of his five overs finishing as maidens, while his economy rate of 4.20 was the best of the England bowlers.
With the exception of Lewis, the top-order batters struggled to settle in the first ODI and Archer is capable of inflicting some damage at the start of the innings.
The Barbados-born paceman made his return to ODI action for England against Australia in September and took two wickets in two of his three matches.
In a drab all-round opening performance, Jacob Bethell was one of England's better players and he could impress again on Saturday.
Bethell struck 27 off 33 balls last time out and is averaging 28 in this format since making his debut in September. Back him to score 24 or more runs.
