Sydney Thunder v Perth Scorchers preview

Perth Scorchers returned to the top of the Big Bash table thanks to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Brisbane Heat on Wednesday and they are 4-6 to rack up an eighth victory in ten games when they face Sydney Thunder.

The end of Australia's Test summer and the start of a rival Twenty20 competition in South Africa means plenty of personnel changes in the Bash this week and Middlesex captain Stephen Eskinazi made his Scorchers debut last weekend.

The opener has made one and 11 in his first two appearances but he is a dangerous T20 batsman, scoring 431 runs in 14 T20 Blast innings for Middlesex last summer, and he can pass a modest runs line of 16.5 on Friday.

Eskinazi was referred to as an "unknown Englishman" by one local newspaper before his debut but he was born in South Africa and lived in Perth as a youngster, representing Western Australia at Under-19 level, so he has some decent experience of conditions down under.
