Somerset vs Glamorgan prediction

Somerset lost to Gloucestershire in last weekend's T20 Blast final before a defeat to Lancashire ended their hopes of pipping Surrey to the County Championship Division One title.

They are desperate to avoid another near-miss when they face Glamorgan in the One-Day Cup final at Trent Bridge, but the Welsh side should not be taken lightly.

Both counties are expected to omit players who did not feature in the group stage of the 50-over competition, so Glamorgan will be without leg-spinner Mason Crane and experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Chris Cooke.

The finalists both topped their groups before Somerset beat holders Leicestershire in a high-scoring semi-final at Taunton and Glamorgan comfortably defended a target of 248 against Warwickshire.

With gloomy conditions forecast for Nottingham, the new ball could do plenty of damage, just as it did in Glamorgan's semi-final.

They reduced Warwickshire to 62-6 in the run-chase, having stumbled to 44-4 in their own innings before a punchy 47 from Colin Ingram started the fightback.

Ingram scored a century on his ODI debut for South Africa against Zimbabwe way back in 2010 and he remains a class act on the county circuit at the age of 39.

He is the leading batsman in Division Two of the Championship this season, racking up 1,267 runs including an unbeaten 257 against Leicestershire last month.

The left-hander also scored 68 against the Foxes and 103 not out against Nottinghamshire in the One-Day Cup group stage and his vast experience could prove vital for Glamorgan in the final.
