England vs Australia prediction

England's stand-in captain Harry Brook has inspired an excellent comeback in the ODI series against Australia, setting up a decider at the County Ground in Bristol.

The last two ODIs at the venue have been prematurely ended by rain and the forecast does not look particularly promising for Sunday's game.

Having trailed the world champions 2-0, England levelled the five-match series at Lord's on Friday, cantering to a 186-run victory in a match reduced to 39 overs per side.

Brook's maiden ODI century had steered them to an impressive win at Chester-le-Street in the third ODI and he cracked 87 off 58 balls at the Home of Cricket.

The decisive blows were struck by Liam Livingstone, who hit four sixes and a four off Mitchell Starc's final over of the innings, before England's fast bowlers stole the show.

Jofra Archer produced an unplayable delivery to bowl Australia captain Mitchell Marsh and the tourists crumbled from 68-0 to 126 all out, losing ten wickets in 16 overs.

That collapse was a bonus for backers of Travis Head to be Australia's top runscorer as the opener won the heat despite being the first man dismissed for 34.

While Head is at the wicket, no opponents can feel comfortable and he is a tempting bet to hit at least two sixes in the decider.

The likelihood of overs being lost to the weather means the left-hander may well go into Twenty20 mode and he has hit 11 sixes from just 74 balls in five T20 innings against Scotland and England on this tour.

Head's ODI knocks have hardly been sluggish – he hit five maximums in his unbeaten 154 in the series opener and struck two sixes in shorter stays at the crease at both Headingley and Lord's.

England's Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett hit 11 sixes between them in 31 overs against Ireland in Bristol last September and Head may prove hard to stop at the County Ground.

Australia are 4-5 to clinch the series after letting slip a 2-0 lead although all-rounder Cameron Green is sidelined by a back injury and senior batsmen Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have made only one half-century apiece in the first four ODIs.
