Tyson Fury v Dillian Whyte predictions: betting odds, date and TV details
All-British heavyweight blockbuster set for April 23
Free boxing tips, best bets and analysis for the heavyweight world championship bout between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.
British boxers braced for blockbuster showdown
Tyson Fury will defend his WBC world title against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte after the pair agreed to an all-British mega fight.
Whyte has been waiting for his chance for some time and the Bodysnatcher is 5-1 to take Fury's title. The Gypsy King is 1-6 to hold onto his WBC belt and the draw is available at 25-1.
Fury is 5-6 to stop the Brixton Banger and 2-1 to win by decision. Whyte is 11-2 to knock out Fury and inflicted the first defeat of the Morecambe man's career.
Fury v Whyte: When will it happen?
Fury had already announced that the fight will take place on April 23 and that is the expected date, after Whyte agreed to terms and signed the fight contract. The WBC have ruled that the bout must take place no later than April 29.
Fury v Whyte: Where will it happen?
There's the need for a large-capacity stadium to stage a bout of this magnitude and there's potential for Wembley to host the contest. The Principality Stadium in Cardiff is another option and you can't rule out a big-money offer to stage the fight abroad.
Fury v Whyte: Previous fights
Fury goes into this contest after a memorable trilogy of fights against Deontay Wilder. The Gypsy King twice stopped the Bronze Bomber and he took the WBC title back to Morecambe.
It's often forgotten that Fury is an unbeaten boxer. He has a win over Wladimir Klitschko, a pair of victories against British rival Dereck Chisora and his overall record is 31 wins, zero defeats and one draw.
The frightening thing about Fury is that we may not have even seen the best of him yet. The Gypsy King seems to be able to alter his style, tactics and performance level at the drop of a hat and there could be more to come from the WBC champ.
Dillian Whyte almost blew his chance of a world title shot when he was knocked out by Alexander Povetkin in 2020. However, the Bodysnatcher recovered to stop the Russian in the rematch. The Brixton Banger also has a defeat to Anthony Joshua on his card, but that came early on in Whyte's career and he had little experience of such a big occasion.
The Bodysnatcher has victories over Chisora, Oscar Rivas and Joseph Parker and that has elevated him to his first world title shot.
Where to watch Fury v Whyte
Frank Warren won the rights to promote the fight with a record-breaking purse bid of £31million. The contest will be shown live on BT Sport Box Office in the UK and ESPN in the US.
Fury v Whyte: What next for the winner?
Three of the four major heavyweight belts are tied-up in the Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk rematch. That bout is scheduled to take place in mid-May.
The picture should become clearer, when we know the winner of that bout, but Fury will no doubt be targeting a unification fight against whoever comes out on top.
Whyte has unfinished business with AJ, but you feel they would both have to win, or both be beaten, to see that fight in the near future.
Fury v Whyte fight predictions
It's tricky to look past Whyte's knockout defeat to Povetkin and Chisora found the Brixton man an easy target to hit when they clashed for the second time in 2018.
Fury is a far better operator than those two boxers and it's hard to see how the Bodysnatcher can win this fight.
It's always tricky to know how Fury will approach a bout and we saw in the Wilder trilogy that his tactics can vary considerably from fight to fight. If the Gypsy King comes in fairly heavy, as he has done in the past, he should win this contest by stoppage.
Best bet
Tyson Fury to win by stoppage
