Fight preview

Dynamite Daniel Dubois is being talked up as a future world heavyweight champion, and the 22-year-old Londoner is hoping to take his next step along the path to world domination by winning the Commonwealth title against 25-1 underdog Ebenezer Tetteh at the Royal Albert Hall.

Veteran promoter Frank Warren has repeatedly stated that Dubois is the best young heavyweight he has ever been involved with, and former pros such as Frank Bruno and David Haye have been queuing up to lavish praise on Triple D.

Dubois won the British title in his last fight with a dominant performance against undefeated prospect Nathan Gorman, knocking him out in the fifth after picking him apart with his excellent jab.

Dubois's talent is well known, but is Ebenezer any good? It's hard to know for sure.

He is the former African heavyweight champion and is undefeated with 16 KOs from 19 wins, but this is the first time that he has fought outside of Ghana and he hasn't beaten anyone of note.

And a close look at his record raises a few red flags.

This is the first time that he has been in the ring in almost a year, and the four fighters he faced in 2018 only one had a won more fights than they had lost, with the quartet having a combined record of 35 wins against 67 defeats.

Another big disadvantage for Tetteh is size. The African weighed in at 217lbs - 23lbs lighter than Dubois, who consistently scales around 240lbs. That's a huge difference, and Tetteh has been much lighter for most of his career - in his first 11 fights he weighed no more than 180lbs and as recently as last year he weighed in at 200lbs.

That suggests he won't have the ability to absorb Dubois's big punches for long, but the markets may have overestimated how quickly the fight will end.

It's even-money that it goes over 2.5 rounds, which would have been a winner in five of Dubois's last six.
