Fight preview
Former world champion Carl Frampton is targeting a fight with WBO super-featherweight king Jamel Herring later this year, but first he must come through a tune-up fight against Aberdeen's Darren Traynor in an empty York Hall on Saturday.
Traynor is a late stand-in after original opponent Armenian Vahram Vardanyan encountered visa problems, and he will go into the fight as an enormous underdog to upset the Jackal, but he is an underdog with a decent pedigree.
Trayn-Wreck is a two-weight Scottish champion who challenged Ryan Walsh for the British featherweight title in 2016.
However, he was stopped in five rounds by Walsh and his career hit another bump in the road when he was knocked out in three rounds by James Tennyson a year later.
Beating Frampton, of course, would turn him into a global sensation - this fight is being screened live in the US - and it's one that he is determined to take.
Unfortunately for Traynor, Frampton is far superior in every department and is unlikely to be in a forgiving mood as he shakes off the lockdown ringrust.
Eight of Frampton's last nine contests have gone the distance, but they were against a who's-who of world-class fighters and Traynor simply isn't on that level.
Frampton doesn't need to rush things and will want to get a few rounds under his belt, but it would be a surprise if he lets it go past the half-way mark of this ten-rounder so take Sky Bet's 11-10 that he wins in rounds one to five.
On the undercard, Archie Sharp looks a cut above Jeff Ofori so back him to get the job done early when they meet for the WBO European super-feather title.
Ofori is fit but he was badly outclassed by O'Hara Davies and Archie Sharp should crush him.
