Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets prediction

Rising star Adam Azim is just 1-7 to extend his perfect 12-0 professional record when he takes on former world champion Sergey Lipinets at Wembley Arena on Saturday.

Lipinets, who is a 15-2 chance, won the vacant IBF super-lightweight title in 2017 in a low-key contest against Akihiro Kondo but he failed to make a single successful defence of the belt.

Describing the 35-year-old as a former world champion therefore overstates Lipinets’ abilities at this stage of his career, but the Kazakh fighter did impress when beating Robbie Davies Jr in his last fight and Azim may get a little more than his team bargained for.

Azim recorded an eight-round knockout victory against Ohara Davies last time, although Davies swiftly announced his retirement from the sport following the bout leaving the substance of that form open to question.

Victories over Enock Poulsen and Franck Petitjean amount to little in the way of top-level credentials, and while Azim has impressed on occasions, the Assassin, 22, didn’t exactly dazzle when taken the distance by Aram Faniian and Santos Reyes.

Azim has been carefully matched and it’s likely he will have too much for Lipinets. However, he may be being priced up on potential rather than substance at present.

With that in mind, backing Lipinets to make it to at least the ninth round looks the best approach on what could be an uncomfortable night for Azim.
