Boxing: Katie Taylor v Rose Volante betting, odds and tips

Ireland's Katie Taylor has been tearing up the female lightweight division since turning professional and the former Olympic and five-time world amateur champion gets the chance to add the WBO belt to IBF and WBA titles when she faces Rose Volante in Philadelphia.

On paper it looks a close match - both women are undefeated, Taylor with 12 wins and Volante with 14 - but bookmakers see it differently, making the Brazilian a massive 14-1 underdog.

There are a few reasons for that. Taylor has looked incredible on her way up the rankings, rarely losing a round against increasingly impressive and experienced opponents, while Volante's record is made up of mainly lower-grade fighters and she struggled against Brenda Karen Carabajal, winning via a majority decision despite scoring knockdowns in the first and second rounds.

Taylor also has the might of Eddie Hearn's Matchroom promotions in her corner, which has allowed her to achieve a level of professionalism unavailable to most other women in the sport.

One thing she doesn't possess is a great KO ratio - five of her last six fights have gone the distance, which explains why Taylor to win on points is just 4-11, and while that is the most likely outcome against Volante there may be value in backing Taylor to win by KO at 11-4 instead.

Volante has never been up against anyone close to Taylor's quality before and is not used to fighting on such a big stage.

Also on the bill, Ireland's Jono Carroll is a 13-2 underdog to take the belt of IBF world super-featherweight champion Tevin Farmer.
