Held up in rear, some headway when short of room 3 out, tenderly handled before 2 out, ran on and went third run-in, eyecatcher (inquiry was held into running and riding; rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of race; Handicapper offered observations and vet performed a post-race examination of mare, which was selected for routine testing and had nothing to report; rider said that her instructions were to jump off, get mare settled and turning into home straight allow her to finish strongly; she added that a good pace was being set considering that mare was being stepped up in trip; she explained that mare started hanging-right handed in snatches from leaving stands on final circuit; rider said mare suffered interference having jumped last flight down back straight and thereon persisted to hang right; rider added that mare jumped second last well before proceeding to hang in behind another runner resulting in jockey having to pull on her left rein in order to prevent mare racing closely on heels; rider added that having jumped the last well mare stayed on well passing tiring horses to finish third which in her opinion had obtained best possible placing considering the circumstances; trainer confirmed instructions and added that he was delighted with today's run having pulled up at Catterick on mare's stable debut; he felt that mare had obtained best possible placing in his opinion; their explanations were noted) (op 80/1 tchd 100/1)
