Jumped slowly and to the left throughout, took keen hold, challenged 6th, lost place 7th and soon struggling in rear, plenty to do in poor 3rd 3 out, jumped badly left when staying on next, hung left run-in but rallied to lead final 50yds (trainer said, regarding apparent improvement in form, that the gelding is strengthening all the time and appeared to benefit from racing on good to firm ground and first-time cheek pieces.)
