| Held up, behind 6th, never near to challenge (regarding the running and riding, the rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race. The Veterinary Officer reported that two post-race examinations of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. The rider stated his instructions were to take his time and get the gelding to relax as he had been finishing weakly in its races. He added that the gelding was running too freely in the early stages of the race and, as a result, was stepping at the hurdles, which caused him to lose ground from the main group of runners. He maintained that whilst he was squeezing the gelding to make up ground in between flights, he was reluctant to put the gelding under pressure too soon as he was concerned he wouldn't finish his race off. He further added that although the gelding appeared to be finishing fast, in his opinion he was only passing tired horses and had stayed on at the same pace. The trainer confirmed these instructions and stated that she was satisfied with the ride given, on the basis that the gelding had taken time to settle and hadn't jumped fluently.)
