Taken down early, held up in rear, nudged along over 1f out, carried left 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, never near to challenge (inquiry held into running and riding of gelding which was restrained at start from his wide draw in stall 10 and raced towards the rear throughout until being asked for an effort approximately 2 1/2f out, from which point he stayed on evenly under hands and heels riding until being disappointed for clear running passing the 1f marker and thereafter was considerately ridden to finish seventh of ten, beaten 4 3/4l; jockey stated his instructions were to take his time, ensure gelding relaxed and found a nice racing rhythm, having had a history of being keen in the past and bleeding on his last start, before warming into race; he explained that pace was strong, which enabled him to drop gelding out early although gelding still raced freely into first bend before eventually settling down back straight; he added that he was tracking the winner leaving back straight when that runner had suffered interference and got carried very wide; however, although not directly affected, his mount had wanted to follow it a little; he indicated he first placed gelding under pressure approaching 2f out and did not feel there was much response to his urgings, with gelding taking a while to pick up and find his stride before being denied a clear run between rivals, which wandered left-handed near 1f marker, a fact he had reported at scales; he further added that inside final furlong he was forced to switch back to inner and was conscious of a rival veering sharply right ahead of him and became concerned about running on to heels and for this reason had stopped riding for a number of strides as a precaution) (tchd 22/1 and tchd 33/1)
Taken down early, awkward start and ducked right start, never better than midfield, switched right over 2f out, edged left inside final furlong, no impression (tchd 8/1)
