Led, switched sharply right against far rail after 2f, raced wide throughout, shaken up and joined over 2f out, ridden and led again when hung left over 1f out, edged left and headed by winner inside final furlong, no extra towards finish (enq into the tactics adopted on the gelding, which jumped straight to the lead from stall 4 before being angled extremely wide towards the stands' rail rounding the first bend, where he remained racing for the majority of the contest before finishing 2nd, beaten by 1 1/2 lengths. The jockey explained that she had walked the course with the trainer prior to the first race and after using their going stick to assess track conditions, they had formulated the opinion that the going within 3 horse widths of the stands rail was considerably quicker than the remainder of the course. It was hoped the advantage they would gain by racing on a quicker strip of ground would counter-act the additional distance they would be required to cover by charting such a wide course.
