Tracked leading trio, effort over 3f out and soon pushed along, ridden well over 2f out, driven well over 1f out, kept on under pressure final furlong (op 9/4 tchd 15/8)
Steadied start, held up and behind until awkward and lost touch well over 3f out, soon tailed off (jockey said, regarding the running and riding, that his instructions were to get the gelding relaxed in the early stages and ride his race from there, but the gelding soon appeared to be uncomfortable and was constantly changing legs. He added that he had ridden the gelding in many of its previous races and felt that on this occasion the gelding was feeling the ground which was officially Good to Firm. He went on to say that the gelding is usually a free running horse and on this occasion proved difficult to pull up. The trainers representative stated the gelding had been fitted with a hood, cross nose band and ring bit today, as he has run too freely in some of his previous races; he agreed that the gelding found the ground too quick on this occasion.)
