In rear, became detached after 2f, soon pushed along, steady headway from over 2f out, tenderly handled inside final furlong, kept on (enq held into the running and riding of the gelding which, having broken level, was slow into stride and was ridden along at the back of the field before staying on in the home straight under a hands and heels ride to finish sixth, beaten 6 lengths. Jockey explained that his instructions were to ride the gelding as he found him although he understood it was to achieve the best possible placing. He stated that due to the fast early pace he dropped to the rear of the field and into the kickback which the gelding didn't face, which he reported at Scales, and lost even further ground.
