Slowly away and lost many lengths start, tailed off throughout (enq held into the running and riding of the gelding, which after jumping awkwardly and being very slowly away, was allowed to become further detached throughout, with the jockey making no visible effort to improve his position, before finishing last of 11 runners, beaten 136¾ lengths. Vet revealed, subsequent to an endoscopic examination on the gelding, that he had blood and mucus in is trachea. Jockey stated that he had no specific instructions, however they wanted the gelding to find a nice rhythm and making the running was an option. Jockey explained that the gelding missed the start badly losing a significant amount of ground, and in his opinion had lost any chance of being competitive thereafter as a result. Jockey further stated that at no point in the race did he place the gelding under any form of pressure to improve, and again reiterated his position that there was no point in trying to recover ground from such an uncompetitive position. Trainer confirmed the instructions and gave Stewards a detailed history of the gelding's racing manners which included a high, awkward head carriage and tendency to race keenly) (tchd 33/1)
