Fractious at the post, took keen hold, in touch with leaders, pushed along over 2f out, led over 1f out, ridden inside final furlong, headed inside final 110yds (op 5/1)
Took keen hold, in rear, pushed along 3f out, not clear run under 2f out, switched right and ran on well inside final furlong, nearest finish (op 12/1)
Carried left start, midfield, dropped to rear when pushed along over 2f out, hung right home turn, ridden over 1f out, ran on well inside final 110yds, not reach leaders (op 14/1)
Hung left throughout, prominent, going easily when bit short of room over 1f out, eased final furlong (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that he had been given no specific instructions other than to ride as he found him and be mindful that gelding has a tendency to hang left-handed; he further noted that despite being a 5yo gelding had only had three runs; he explained that gelding had hung badly left-handed throughout and he had to ride on a very tight right rein but was happy with gelding's early position and whilst rounding final bend he had shifted right-handed away from rail to give him more options in home straight; he continued that gelding was hanging left-handed and thereafter had been denied a clear run between Haku and Pons Aelius and his only option for a clear run was to switch left-handed which he was reluctant to do as his mount was shifting left-handed in close proximity to runners which had improved up his inside; this was evidenced on the recordings by rider of Ehteyat having to steady slightly and as such he had stopped encouraging his mount forward; thereafter, Diamond Bay had improved to inside of gelding and as such he was concerned with regard to his mount's racing manner and could not persevere with his ride as a result; he added that with hindsight taking his chances by staying on inside rail may have been a better option; trainer's rep stated that considering the circumstances they were satisfied with the ride; vet reported that a post-race examination failed to reveal any clinical abnormalities) (op 13/8)
Ducked left start, in rear, still plenty to do but going easily 2f out, ridden over 1f out, wandered around inside final furlong, never dangerous (op 33/1 tchd 40/1)
