Took keen hold, midfield, not fluent 2nd, pushed along after 4 out, well behind when not fluent 3 out, went modest fourth final 110yds (op 12/1 tchd 33/1)
Took keen hold, led, pushed along and headed before 3 out, well beaten when bad mistake and nearly lost jockey last, weakened and lost two places run-in (op 250/1)
Took keen hold, held up in rear, not fluent 1st, some headway when mistake 3 out, soon pushed along and no impression (an enquiry was held into the running and riding of the gelding, which was ridden towards the rear of the field, before being asked for an effort shortly before turning into the home straight and then staying on well under apparent tender handling to finish ninth. jockey said that his instructions were to get the gelding settled as he had raced keenly both to post and in the race on his only previous start over hurdles. jockey said that the gelding had again gone freely to post and in the initial stages of the race before settling well. the gelding made a mistake at the fourth hurdle before jumping well down the back straight where the jockey said that he was anxious not to ask the gelding to improve his position to avoid him becoming keen at that stage of the race. The jockey continued that turning out of the back straight he moved wide to begin to improve his position, which he continued to do so under tender handling before making a bad mistake at the third last. the jockeys main priority then was to get the gelding to jump the last two safely, after which he asked the gelding for effort whereupon he did not improve his placing anymore with regards to those horses around him. the trainer confirmed the instructions and added that he was satisfied with the ride given. He highlighted the geldings lack of progress under a hard drive after jumping the last hurdle and added that in his opinion the gelding would either not have finished as close or the race at all if the jockey had asked him for more substantial effort sooner) (tchd 66/1 and tchd 100/1)
