Held up towards rear, travelled strongly to close up into straight, challenged from 2 out, ran on well under hands and heels run-in, just failed (trainer said, regarding the running and riding, that the gelding ran better than expected and that prior to the race he instructed the jockey to get a lead into the straight, push his mount out hands and heels, but not to use his whip. Mr. O'Grady added that he was surprised with the run and was satisfied with the ride. In his evidence jockey said that it looked a good class race and confirmed that he rode to instructions. He said he thought his mount was travelling very well between the final two hurdles and hoped that the horse would arrive to win his race on the line. He confirmed that he pushed his mount out hands and heels and did not use his whip as instructed and was satisfied that he had achieved his best possible placing.) (op 9/1) | ||||||||||
