Held up towards rear, brought wide throughout, no impression in rear approaching straight, one pace after (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his orders were to nurse the big green gelding around and to ride the bends wide, keep it company and do his best, it jumped well and apart from riding wide on bends as instructed, made up ground in the straight by pushing and kicking, he felt he was still going well until it began to whinny at the last two fences and again on pulling up, a fact that he failed to report; trainer confirmed instructions but was critical of the amount of ground conceded racing very wide, he felt the jockey failed to grab hold of the gelding and ask it to race, it will now be put away until the back end of the year as it needs winter ground.; vet said gelding lost a hind shoe.)
