Took keen hold, towards rear, some headway but tenderly handled 3 out, weakened quickly from 2 out, tailed off (an enquiry was held into the running and riding; vet examined the mare post-race during routine testing and had nothing to report; jockey said his instructions were to get the mare to settle having raced keen on her previous run at Huntingdon, he said that mare had initially settled off a strong pace but, having jumped well and come upsides other runners, she began to run keen; despite this, he considered she was still going well rounding the final bend but, having finished weakly on her previous run he elected to wait and to ask for the mare's effort as late as possible; however, having landed short after the penultimate flight he felt she weakened quickly so he rode her hands and heels in order to get her home; he added that he had advised the trainer's rep that the mare might benefit from a drop back in trip; trainer's rep confirmed the instructions were accurate and that he was satisfied with the ride; their explanations were noted) (op 50/1)
