Taken down early, mounted in chute, slowly away, held up in rear, still plenty to do when ridden over 2f out, edged left over 1f out, kept on well to lead final 110yds, cosily (op 5/1)
Slowly away, towards rear, outpaced over 2f out, soon edged left, some headway over 1f out, no extra final 110yds (jockey said gelding stopped quickly)
Held up in rear, going okay but still plenty to do under 2f out, keeping on when not clear run inside final furlong (inquiry held into running and riding; jockey said that his instructions were to jump from stalls and settle in a position where gelding was happy, not rush gelding and to come with a steady run; he explained gelding had been slow to stride having been in the stalls a long time so he settled in rear and on inside of field rather further out of his ground than ideal but hoping race would unfold down middle of track which would give him a clear run up the inner; however the field moved towards inside rail which left gelding short of options and behind a wall of horses; he further added that approximately 1 1/2f out a gap momentarily opened but he decided that it wasn't an option as field was continuing to drift left-handed and the front runners were beginning to drop back in front of him so he had to wait again for another opportunity to improve his position which never fully materialised during remainder of race as he was repeatedly denied a clear run which he reported at Scales; his explanation was noted)
