Taken down early, steadied start, took keen hold, towards rear of midfield, switched left and headway over 1f out, ridden and went third final 110yds, kept on (op 17/2)
Slowly away, switched right soon after start, took keen hold, held up in rear, pushed along over 1f out, never dangerous (inquiry into running and riding of gelding which, having jumped slowly from the stalls, was held up at rear of field before being asked for an effort approximately 2f out and thereafter had made progress under hands and heels ride to finish eighth, beaten by 6 lengths; jockey stated that he had been given no specific instructions but was mindful that this was gelding's first run for trainer having come from Ireland; he added that gelding had missed the break, a fact he had reported at scales and had been flat out from 3 1/2f out when field started to quicken; he further added that although he had not felt it necessary to resort to the whip he felt he had given gelding a strong hands and heels ride and in his opinion had achieved the best possible placing)
Always behind, lost touch over 2f out, tailed off and eased final furlong, bled from the nose (vet reported gelding had an irregular heartbeat and had bled from the nose) (op 40/1 tchd 66/1)
