Took keen hold, midfield on outer, steady headway and pressed leaders after 2f, led going easily 2f out, soon ridden and faced challenge, kept on final 110yds (op 10/3)
Lost many lengths start, in rear, joined main group over 5f out, headway towards near side over 1f out, edged left and kept on final 110yds (inquiry was held into running and riding; vet had nothing to report; jockey said his instructions were to await how mare jumped from stalls as she had shown recent tendencies of jumping slowly and to ride the race as it unfolded; he said she jumped tardily from stalls, a fact that he reported at scales, but raced slightly keenly in early stages and on bend; he went on to say that he felt it was important to allow filly to regain her balance having slightly over-raced in the earlier stages and felt that angling out to the right gave mare clearer running in home straight; he further said that mare was rolling around under pressure, in particular to the left, and that he rode filly out to line to finish fourth and, in his opinion, had obtained best possible placing; trainer said he was satisfied with ride and that it accorded with instructions given considering filly had been slowly away; their explanations were noted; jockey said mare was slowly away) (op 17/2)
