Tom Segal's play of the day at Thirsk
Intrinsic Bond
5.45 Thirsk
It's not all about Chantilly because the Sky Bet Sunday Series roadshow moves on to Thirsk and there is a really competitive 17-runner sprint handicap for punters to get their teeth stuck into.
Races like the 5f handicap (5.45) are not really my cup of tea because it's anyone's guess where the best place on the track will be, especially with very fast horses drawn on either side of the track.
Having said that, course-and-distance winner Intrinsic Bond can race off a 9lb lower mark than when runner-up at the Shergar Cup to Rogue Lightning, who is fancied for the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot next week, and when a close third in the Portland at Doncaster.
He didn't pull up any trees on his comeback run at Haydock last week, but that was over 6f on quicker ground and there has to be every chance this much more valuable race was always his aim in any case. Furthermore, Darragh Keenan has won on three of the eight rides he's had for Michael Wigham.
Looking For Lynda, who was a close third in the Dash at Epsom from stall one, is dangerous if his high draw in stall 17 is favoured, while Fair Wind and Changeofmind are unexposed in the context of this race.
