Tom Segal's play of the day at the Windsor
The Famous Five
The form of The Famous Five's easy Bangor win last season has been franked many times since, and Venetia Williams opted to bring him back in the Gerry Feilden at Newbury, but he looked a bit rusty that day against slick two-mile hurdlers, although he wasn't beaten far at all.
He makes his chasing debut from a mark of 118 and I will be staggered if, like nearly all from the yard, he's not a much better chaser.
Furthermore, I think he'll like the softer ground, and while it won't be bottomless at Windsor, those with 20-year-old memories will remember the track always riding slower than many courses in a similar geographical area.
It won't be easy for The Famous Five because he's up against Helnwein, who beat the Greatwood runner-up Be Aware in a competitive handicap hurdle at Sandown on the final day of last season. He has some chase experience, too, and looked in need of his run at Warwick, so he is dangerous, but if The Famous Five gets out in front and jumps alright, he could well make a mockery of his mark.
