Scenic ran better than could have been expected at Haydock last time and she will be much more suited by the track in the Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies' Stakes.

On official ratings Scenic has plenty to find with Ralph Beckett's River Of Stars, who is undoubtedly the one to beat, but I don't think we have seen the best of her yet and she did well to stay on into sixth having been held up right out the back. I think Haydock is the best front-runners track in the country when the ground is quick and they didn't go that fast in the race either, which made it impossible to come from well off the pace.

Consequently, I thought Scenic ran above herself when only beaten four lengths, having come wide up the straight away from the principals. Tom Marquand takes the ride from a nice draw in stall four, and with plenty of pace guaranteed I think Scenic can serve it up to River Of Stars, who might want a bit further these days.
