Tom Segal's play of the day at Galway
Fast Tara
4.00 Galway
Joseph O'Brien has had a great week at Galway, winning the Galway Hurdle with Nurburgring and the valuable mile handicap with Mexicali Rose, who was expertly ridden by the 5lb claimer Wayne Hassett.
That pair team up again in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Ahonoora Handicap (4.00) on the final day of the festival with Fast Tara and she could be the one to back after catching the eye from a terrible draw at the Curragh last time. On that occasion Fast Tara was switched from a draw on the outside to sit on the rail but because of that she got too far back and hit traffic problems. Given that she did well to be beaten only three lengths and before that she had found the mile too far on her first two starts for O'Brien.
On the first of them she was only slightly over a length behind the Royal Ascot winner Crystal Black and, with Hassett taking off a valuable 5lb she looks likely to go very well over 7f, which seems to be her ideal trip.
