Tom Segal's play of the day at Aintree
Bowenspark
At this time of the jumps season it's often best to stick with horses who have shown they go well fresh and have good autumn form.
One who fits the bill is the Henry Daly-trained Bowenspark, who has won first time out in his two previous campaigns and looks really well handicapped on the pick of his form in the 2m4f handicap hurdle.
I'm pretty confident that if you'd have said to Daly that Bowenspark would still be rated only 121 after he'd flown home to be fourth in the 2023 Aintree Grade 2 bumper, he would be both shocked and disappointed.
Clearly Bowenspark hasn't lived up to that promise but he's still young and has time on his side. With Daly's yard going really well – a winner and a runner-up at Cheltenham on Friday at big prices – everything looks right for a big run.
Kamsinas is dangerous for Fergal O'Brien, who has won this race for the last two seasons, including with subsequent Grade 1 winner Crambo last year. However, the seven-year-old has to give plenty of weight to Bowenspark, who has just as much potential.
