Robbie Wilders' play of the day at the Curragh
Babouche
2.10 Curragh
Winning debuts don't come much more impressive than Babouche's at Cork last month and the Ger Lyons-trained filly can preserve her unbeaten record in the Jebel Ali Racecourse And Stables Anglesey Stakes (2.10).
Babouche, despite being the least-experienced juvenile in this field and facing several who entered the Royal Ascot cauldron last month, has the best Topspeed figure by dint of that wide-margin Cork success.
That form has been franked by successes from the well-beaten sixth and 12th as both struck at huge prices subsequently.
Lyons knows the family well as he also trained Babouche's sister Zarinsk, who improved to bag at Group 2 at three last term. The fact Zarinsk handled soft ground so well gives every hope Babouche will be okay if conditions ease. Hopefully, we see something special from her and she can deliver Lyons a second Anglesey since 2021.
