Robbie Wilders' play of the day at Sedgefield
Augharue
There's no all-weather racing until next week and that's definitely a good thing. Regardless of who you are, everyone needs a break here and there, and I'll be enjoying sticking solely to the jumps for betting over the next seven days.
Another good thing is the fact every race on the card at Sedgefield has at least eight runners declared, and the best bet at the Durham track comes in the 2m½f handicap chase (2.00) courtesy of Augharue. There is a chance the two recent winners in this field, Clean Getaway and Mutual Respect, will be overbet.
Clean Getaway only scraped home from a stablemate who was 40-1 to bring up his hat-trick last time and is 12lb higher back over fences, while Mutual Respect was surely lucky to land his last two. Late falls from two horses who were travelling better than he was changed the complexion of those races.
Augharue may still be an 18-race maiden, but ran a cracker at Kelso last month behind a lightly raced subsequent winner for top connections who was clearly on an excellent chase mark.
The selection is up 3lb, but is still 2lb lower than when going close over course and distance on a similar surface in May. Expect another bold bid from the front from Augharue with regular rider Sam Coltherd taking over in the saddle.
