Robbie Wilders' play of the day at Newbury
Destroytheevidence
The final wager at Newbury is Destroytheevidence in the 2m7½f novice handicap chase (1.40) for Kim Bailey, who has started the season well.
Destroytheevidence was set a couple of stiff tasks as a novice hurdler last season and even managed to finish second in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham at the December meeting.
He was always going to be a superior chaser, though, and duly struck at the first time of asking in that sphere at Chepstow last month, justifying strong market support in the process.
Bailey landed that race in 2023 with Chianti Classico, whose improvement simply shows no signs of stopping, and the form of this season's running seems certain to work out well. The six-year-old is only 5lb higher and has the class to defy top weight.
