Bob O Rhino
1.45 Ludlow
The step up in trip, likelihood of an uncontested lead and significant drop in class can see Bob O Rhino charge home in the 2m5½f mares' novice handicap hurdle (1.45) at Ludlow.
Backed into 2-1 (from 11-2} for a 0-120 Hereford contest this month, the Katy Price-trained five-year-old made a bold bid from the front to land the gamble. Although she lost three places on the run-in, Bob O Rhino didn’t fade away after being headed, and her pedigree suggests this longer trip will suit.
The winner, Tour Ovalie, had previously finished a creditable third behind Getalead at Wincanton, with Saturday’s comfortable Huntingdon scorer Gold For Alec in second place.
Getalead has won twice since, including when beating the Paul Nicholls-trained Irish Hill – a fluent winner at Plumpton on his previous start – at Wincanton last Thursday. That combination of various strands of form suggests Bob O Rhino’s Hereford run could be stronger than many might expect, and she drops into a 0-100 this time.
With fellow front runners conspicuous by their absence, it is not difficult to envisage the lightly raced Bob O Rhino making all.
