Honey Jack
3.25 Kempton
Joe Tizzard was out of luck with The Changing Man in Saturday’s Badger Beer Chase, but his team has generally been in cracking form lately and it may pay to focus on unexposed Honey Jack in Kempton’s 3m½f novices’ handicap hurdle (3.25).
The £55,000 purchase has qualified for handicaps on a mark of just 89 following four defeats over shorter trips.
A 66-1 shot when well beaten on his latest start at Kempton in May, it wasn't surprising that he couldn't keep tabs on runners from the Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls stables from the home turn.
The winner Ideal Des Bordes boasts an official hurdles rating of 118, while runner-up Fasol is rated 108.
In all likelihood, Honey Jack won't need to find chunks of improvement to get seriously competitive against the likes of Magical Arthur and The Dark Edge, who have risen in the weights after recent wins.
