Richard Birch's play of the day at Hamilton

Temper Trap

1.48 Hamilton

Five-time Hamilton scorer Temper Trap can add to his tally at the track by landing the 1m½f apprentice handicap.

The Tim Easterby-trained seven-year-old may have found the ground too lively when a beaten evens favourite at his favourite track last month.

Although beaten six lengths by Carvalhal, he was by no means disgraced, and has been dropped 1lb since to a mark of 51.

Temper Trap’s most recent Hamilton win was achieved off 8lb higher and he should take plenty of beating with apprentice Archie Young claiming 5lb. The forecast easier ground will suit him.
