Paul Kealy's play of the day at Taunton
Mr Zee
There's a £10,000 prize fund for the 2m½f handicap hurdle at Taunton, which isn't bad considering the standard. Mr Zee is given a chance to get off the mark over hurdles at the ninth time of asking.
The fact he's going for a first win in this sphere is hardly an endorsement, but we're not talking about win machines lined up against him. His six Flat successes make him the joint winning-most horse in the field alongside the chaser Mordred, having his first run over hurdles for two years.
Mr Zee hasn't exactly been pulling up trees lately, but he was a fair fourth of 15 last month over 2m2½f at Exeter's stiff track and that may have just stretched him.
The key to him might be quick ground over hurdles as he's a dual Flat winner on good to firm and he showed his best form in this sphere on good at Kempton in the spring when second off a mark 6lb higher than he's got now.
