Paul Kealy's play of the day at Newbury
Mrs Twig
4.45 Newbury
I like Mrs Twig in the fillies' staying handicap at Newbury (4.45), a Class 3 event with a £50k prize fund.
She has a few well-bred rivals to face in a competitive race, but that was the case when she was outsider of five at Newmarket last time, and she still completed her double in good style, pouncing close home under Tom Marquand.
Mrs Twig has gone up 5lb for a half-length success, but the front two pulled five lengths clear of the well-backed third, so that looks fair enough, and this is a fast-improving filly who remains at the right end of the handicap.
