Paul Kealy's play of the day at Lingfield

Carbine Harvester

1.58 Lingfield

The 6f Class 4 handicap (1.58) at Lingfield could be quite a deep race for the grade, but it still surprised me when Carbine Harvester wasn't chalked up favourite on the early shows.

It surprised others, too, as he was made favourite before I could get involved, but given that he is a William Haggas-trained hat-trick-seeker who officially 4lb well in under his penalty, I would have expected him to be well under 2-1.

His last success at Southwell was quite striking as, having looked briefly like he was going to get outpaced, he picked up really well for just one crack of the whip and strode away to win by three and a half lengths.

He has some interesting rivals to deal with in this contest, not least Sergio Parisse and Dream Voyage, but they are both going to have to be on their mettle against a rival who is hard-fit and in cracking form.
