Graeme Rodway's play of the day at Wetherby

Half Shot

3.30 Wetherby

It could be a good day for Brian Hughes because he gets the leg up on Half Shot in the feature Bobby Renton Handicap Chase and the ten-year-old can make his proven fitness count.

Half Shot has been busy all summer and bounced back to form when winning in first-time blinkers at Kelso four weeks ago under Hughes, off a mark that was only 3lb lower than this.

He is up to a rating of 117 for that victory, but finished a close fourth in a stronger race than this one at Ayr in April off a mark of 125 and is evidently still well handicapped on his best.

The blinkers are back on again here and he appears to go on most types of ground.
