Graeme Rodway's play of the day at Hereford
Inoui Machin
4.42 Hereford
Sam Twiston-Davies has an outstanding chance in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle (4.42) on Inoui Machin. He is worth backing to follow up his course-and-distance victory last month.
Inoui Machin will definitely be suited by the drying ground, as he is unraced on soft or heavy, and he looked value for a bit further than the winning margin of a neck when successful on good to soft going here last time. He was forced wide turning in but was strong to the finish.
There was just a neck back to the third in a bunch of three at the line, but the first three pulled 19 lengths clear of the rest of the field and the other two who fought out the finish with Inoui Machin that day have run three times between them since and won all three. The form is hot.
Inoui Machin has gone up 2lb for this return to handicap company, but is still unexposed at this trip over hurdles and trainer Neil Mulholland, who has a healthy 19 per cent strike-rate at Hereford in recent seasons, is trusted to get further improvement from him.
