T’Challa definitely wants decent ground and the Andrew Balding-trained three-year-old appears to be progressing quickly enough to make it three wins in his last four outings.

There is a lot to like about the way T’Challa races. He is uncomplicated and has a superb attitude, but appears to do only just enough and his narrow winning margins mean he is exactly the type who could stay a step ahead of the handicapper as he improves.

He certainly showed a jolt of improvement when upped to 1m2f at Newbury last time when he made all the running to score by three-quarters of a length, always doing enough to hold on.

That form has taken a few knocks, but the time was quick for the grade and T’Challa was responsible for setting what must have been strong enough fractions from the front. That suggests he is good value for his victory and he has gone up only 5lb in the weights since.

With the likes of Harper’s Ferry and Victorious Secret likely to take out a chunk of the market, T’Challa might be a fair price and he is open to just as much progress as those two.
