I always look out for Gordon Elliott’s runners at Clonmel because his strike-rate there in the last five seasons is 24 per cent. That is higher than at any other course in Ireland, bar Down Royal, and he appears to have some strong chances again.

Elliott might be able to land the 2m3½f mares' maiden hurdle (3.03) with Whispering Hopes, who was 0-6 on the Flat but has already shown herself to be a much better hurdler.

Whispering Hopes was a promising fourth over 2m on her hurdles debut at Gowran Park this month and again ran well when second over 2m1½f at Downpatrick two weeks ago.

She was well clear of the 109-rated third and is open to improvement up another two furlongs.
