Gary Savage's play of the day at Lingfield on Tuesday
Oakley Boy
3.00 Lingfield
It's low grade but competitive action on Tuesday and the best bets come in the afternoon, starting in the 5f nursery (3.00) at Lingfield.
There are plenty of handicap debutants that look likely to catch punters’ attention here and the Stuart Williams-trained Oakley Boy, who is having his fifth run, will hopefully go under the radar as a result.
A half-brother to four winners, he is making his second start in a handicap having run in a Class 4 event over 6f at York ten days ago. Oakley Boy showed up well for most of it, looking to have every chance a furlong out despite a troubled passage. He faded late.
That York run was encouraging considering his dam and four siblings did all their winning on the all-weather and not on turf, so that points to Oakley Boy enjoying his all-weather return.
The selection has already proven himself on Polytrack as he won at Chelmsford on his second start and the early pace he showed that day bodes well for this sharper test.
Sean Levey is an impressive three from 11 for Stuart Williams this year and a good run is expected.
