'You can't read too much into things people are saying - it's gone now'
The best quotes from the racing world this week . . .
He didn't overcomplicate it, which is what he did yesterday. It's an awful habit. Our hero overcomplicated it yesterday and I was clear in my definition of that. I think it's right to say what you think. It's over, it's past, it's finished and we move on
John Gosden speaks honestly after Frankie Dettori's winning ride on Inspiral came 24 hours on from a nightmare day for the rider when he was beaten on Stradivarius, Saga and Reach For The Moon

You've got to cancel it out. You can't read too much into things people are saying – it's gone now. For the first hour this morning I thought about it still, but then studied the form and it was grand
Frankie Dettori reflects on criticism received during Royal Ascot week which included John Gosden and Stradivarius's owner-breeder Bjorn Nielsen

He was our first homebred winner and is now our first homebred Royal Ascot winner, so that's very cool. I think I'd much rather have winners here [than as a sportsman] and there's more champagne too!
Former England international cricketer Craig Kieswetter reflects on his homebred Candleford's Duke of Edinburgh triumph

To get his head in front is something we didn't let ourselves dream about. To pull it off is great. You can only be so confident coming here as it's the hardest place to come to in the world. We hoped, but not much more than that.
Harry Eustace after Latin Lover provided him with a first Royal Ascot winner in only his second season as a trainer

It was important that things went right for him as it was awful last time at Longchamp. It was like Murder, She Wrote – it was an absolute disaster. The only positive to come out of it was it made a man out of him, because his attitude was brilliant today. He's bounced back with a first-class run
Adam Kirby after Claymore bounced back from a French flop to overturn odds-on favourite Reach For The Moon in the Hampton Court Stakes

Both our horses got wiped out. Crispy Cat got completely wiped out. If that's not a mistake we may as well give up. If you lose fair and square that's fine but for an experienced jockey to wipe out four horses in the field, I don't even know what to say to that
Kia Joorabchian, owner of Norfolk second and third Walbank and Crispy Cat, furious after The Ridler was able to keep the race having veered across his horses under Paul Hanagan

They are the rules, but if you were the connections of the second or third, which I know in this case are the same, then that has to be taken into account. The fouler gets the benefit of the doubt in racing, rather than the fouled. I'm not sure if that's right. The third horse, you could argue, was cost second place but that's the rub of the green. That's racing
Ruby Walsh on the Norfolk Stakes drama after British racing's interference rules once again came under scrutiny

I definitely deserved a ban – without a doubt – but I did think ten days was a bit harsh. I go around every day, see interference every day and sometimes I wonder how a jockey hasn't picked up days
Paul Hanagan on his ten-day ban received for his winning ride on The Ridler in the Norfolk

There were plenty of moments inside the final furlong when I thought she might be beaten. I was making an awful lot of noise and a show of myself watching it on the big screen!
Jessica Harrington after Magical Lagoon clung on in the Ribblesdale to give her a third Royal Ascot winner

He's so good. I'm not taking anything away from our boys, we have some really good jockeys riding in England at the moment, but myself and James just seem to get on really well together. It's great to have him on our side.
Charlie Hills on his friend and New Zealand sensation James McDonald after the Australian-based rider steered Dark Shift to success in the Royal Hunt Cup

Frankie Dettori had his hands on the blind but it's tucked into the cheekpieces on the horse's bridle. When it does come out, it's all too late for them. The horse can't see the gates opening. That's an absolute shocker. It's one of those nightmare moments and it gave him no chance.
ITV's Jason Weaver on Lord North's drama in the stalls at the start of the Prince of Wales's Stakes

Her work had been excellent. She's a bit of a diva, so we've just had to keep a lid on her, but she handled everything really well. She's the quickest two-year-old I've trained but I'm sure she will stay six furlongs.
Karl Burke delighted as his pre-race confidence in Dramatised was vindicated in the Queen Mary Stakes

It was a procession and it was a fantastic result – it's nice to see superstar horses go unbeaten. It was like a piece of work for Baaeed and Jim is a very good rider – it was a simple race for him. Baaeed could be the next Frankel – if he steps up to a mile and a quarter for the Juddmonte International then we would be talking about a similar racing routine to what Frankel had. Baaeed is an absolute machine
Champion jockey Oisin Murphy likens Baaeed to the legendary Frankel after his Queen Anne success

Baaeed was a very impressive winner for sure. I'm taking nothing away from him. But don't forget that's only the fifth start of Coroebus's career and I thought it was a gutsy performance in a race that probably wasn't run to suit us.
Charlie Appleby on the prospect of facing Baaeed in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood

Poor Cieren is devastated. He's a young man and a very good rider. He's just had a misfortune today and we must not lambast him. We should support him and I will be. His day will come and hopefully he will ride lots of Group winners in time.

It's been a big build up to get here – Ascot's been talked about for a few years now – so for him to come here and do that is just unbelievable.
