Instrumental in turning BT into a major sports broadcaster, Bushell also worked for Sky for 14 years and was seen as a key part of boosting the Jockey Club's finances through media rights. As an outsider to the sport, her appointment a year ago was viewed as a bold one that will ultimately be remembered for the wrong reasons.
