What's on this week: plenty to enjoy before big guns go for the Coral-Eclipse
Monday
The week kicks off with racing at Southwell and Pontefract, with the latter staging the typically informative British Stallion Studs EBF Spindrifter Conditions Stakes (2.45).
As usual, Windsor races in the evening and it's joined by a seven-race card at Musselburgh.
Tuesday
Listed action comes from Roscommon and Jason The Militant is the star attraction in the Lenebane Stakes (7.40). He has developed into a smart hurdler for Henry de Bromhead but is also unbeaten in two starts on the Flat. Yaxeni and and Licence feature among ten rivals.
There are also Flat cards at Hamilton, Brighton and Chepstow, while jumps fans can turn to Stratford for a six-race evening fixture.
Wednesday
Once again the pick of the racing comes from Ireland with some smart juveniles among the entries for the Coolmore Ten Sovereigns Tipperary Stakes (5.40) at Tipperary. The Antarctic could bid to bounce back after his seventh-place finish in the Norfolk, while Lady Tilbury and Ocean Quest are also interesting.
Surprisingly, Gordon Elliott has three runners scheduled to run at Worcester's jumps fixture, with Sean Bowen booked, while the afternoon's entertainment also includes Flat racing from Thirsk and Musselburgh. Bath and Kempton race in the evening.
Thursday
The likes of Hey Gaman and Dark Vision are among previous winners of the 6f novice stakes at Yarmouth (2.50) and plenty of exciting types are among the entries, notably Royal Charter, Changing Colours and €520,000 breeze-up buy Lord Uhtred.
It's Grimes Hurdle day at Tipperary with Willie Mullins' Saint Roi and Shewearsitwell catching the eye at the entry stage.
The Ladies' Derby opens a six-race card at Epsom, while Haydock, Perth, Newbury and Bellewstown are also in action.
Friday
The Coral-Eclipse meeting opens with a decent Friday card featuring three Listed races. Addeybb is entered for the Davies Insurance Services Gala Stakes (4.05) and Scope is another top performer who could head to Sandown.
The Dragon Stakes (1.50) is also gearing up to be a fine race with two Royal Ascot runners-up in Walbank and Rocket Rodney among the entries.
Elsewhere, jumps fare can be found at Newton Abbot with further Flat racing at Doncaster, Haydock and Beverley. In Ireland, Wexford and Bellewstown are in action.
Saturday
The Coral-Eclipse (3.35) represents the first clash of the generations with the cream of the Classic crop taking on the older horses at Group 1 level.
Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Native Trail looks set to fly the flag for the three-year-olds, but he could face a stellar line-up including Bay Bridge, Real World, Alenquer and Mishriff.
The Sandown card also includes the Charge (1.50), a Group 3 sprint, while further top-class action is on show at Haydock where the feature is the Group 2 bet365 Lancashire Oaks (2.40). That card also includes the popular Old Newton Cup (3.15).
Beverley and Leicester add to the afternoon's fun with Carlisle and Nottingham racing in the evening and, in Ireland, Naas and Bellewstown.
Sunday
There's a quiet end to the week but some decent fillies will be at Chelmsford for the Listed Louis Roederer Queen Charlotte Fillies' Stakes (3.55) while Market Rasen, Tramore and Ayr also stage fixtures.
